Ultrasound
The trained clinician uses this modality to help decrease spasms, improve healing time, reduce swelling and pain, and increase healing. The procedure uses a wand that emits sound waves to decrease inflammation, break down adhesions, and increase blood flow. This is good for acute pain and inflammation from sprains and strain. We have had great success with ankle sprain, knee sprain, muscle contusion, and tennis elbow. It is also great for neck pain, shoulder tendinitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome. A PT Consult is required if you are a new patient or client. If filing insurance, then a PT Evaluation is necessary. Suppose you have had this procedure done here at A. Yumang Rehab, with patient care, you don't have to have a PT consult, especially if you are coming for maintenance therapy.
If you have insurance, they will cover this as part of your PT Encounter. To facilitate this, you need to have a PT Care plan in place and be actively participating in therapy sessions.
If you're not currently in active therapy, you'll need to pay out of pocket for the maintenance program or therapy. The procedure itself, including setup, takes about 20 minutes. After your PT consultation, you can schedule this procedure for a 20-minute session.
